MORFIK HAS GIVEN US A SERIOUS COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
“It was fate that I found Morfik,” reveals Didier Largange, Director and Founder of XTRALOG, a French West Indian software development firm that boasts a large number of French, Belgian, and Swiss corporations as clients. “Right from the very start I was confident I could do things with Morfik that I’d never have been able to do using other tools.”
The 38-year-old Parisian MIT and Delphi and Turbo Pascal expert established XTRALOG in Martinique 10 years ago, creating human management solutions for a broad range of businesses. Most of their software use multi-tiered technologies built with Delphi and RemObjects.
“We wanted cross-platform solutions for our client work. I’d come from a Delphi background and was using a lot of third party components,” says Didier. “It was becoming more and more difficult to manage those packages. We also had to use external tools to manage databases, deployment, and other tasks. I began to search for a better solution.”
“It was surprisingly difficult to find the exact solution for our needs - open but not too far from Delphi. Initially we used Intraweb but our main goal was to deploy on Linux, and Intraweb just couldn’t deliver. We then tested a number of other options, like .Net and Java. Neither supplied the answers we needed. Morfik came to the rescue!”
Didier discovered that developing software with Morfik was a totally new experience, and a pleasurable one. “Rather than relying on fancy components, Morfik focuses on a simpler way of doing things. Developing web solutions is not the same thing as client server development. Morfik has utterly changed the way I think about designing user interfaces,” Didier explains. “Put simply, the Morfik mindset is very powerful. It’s a new way of thinking that allows us to achieve things we once believed were impossible for our clients.”
Didier now believes working with Morfik is incomparable to other Ajax tools. “When you try Morfik, you will know what I mean. It’s so different from other tools like Google Web toolkit. We have found it exceptionally scalable, flexible, and extremely easy to interface with other solutions, as well as providing a simple setup tool for all our information systems.”
Using a single framework to create multiple solutions makes working with Morfik easy. Didier values the fact that Morfik allows him to use concepts with which he is familiar (ie the ubiquitous Frames) to produce up-to-the-minute results. He particularly likes the absence of JavaScript and Morfik’s powerful database management features: “It’s very satisfying to use software that includes all these solutions while completely removing the need to rely on any external tools.”
XTRALOG’s young engineering staff has wholeheartedly embraced the new Morfik software paradigm. One has even written an article on the web application and is making a lot of progress creating new ways of applying Morfik. For this reason, Morfik has supported XTRALOG’s growth from strength to strength.
“Morfik has given us a serious competitive advantage,” Didier declares. “As a direct result of using Morfik, I now have new clients interested in using web solutions and there are far fewer requests for classic applications. Our initial investment in Morfik has paid for itself many times over.”
