USPTO publishes Morfik’s Third Patent Application
We first mentioned our Plastic Layout Technology in our news in June, but now it is official: our third provisional patent has now been published on the USPTO web site: "System and Method for designing and generating database-driven user interfaces that contain cascading plastic layout elements".Here is the abstract: "A system and method are disclosed for creating a user interface for database-driven web sites or software applications in which the layout of elements can accommodate and respond to expansion and contraction in a fluid-like or content-flow manner at run-time, but is also constrained by fixed or grid-like sizes, positions, and properties that are specified at design-time. This aspect of controlling the layout of controls via a hybrid of fixed as well as fluid properties, all of which an be visually or programmatically specified at design-time as well as at run-time, provides significant advantages over previous web site and software application design tools and techniques."
Joel Spolsky speaks about the inevitable future Web SDK
Joel Spolsky, web guru, in his Strategy Letter IV, develops the premise that the future lies in an SDK for the web, which will inevitably replace the Windows SDK as the SDK of choice. "So if history repeats itself, we can expect some standardization of Ajax user interfaces to happen in the same way we got Microsoft Windows. Somebody is going to write a compelling SDK that you can use to make powerful Ajax applications with common user interface elements that work together. And whichever SDK wins the most developer mindshare will have the same kind of competitive stronghold as Microsoft had with their Windows API." In a follow-up posting , he specifically mentions Morfik as one of those companies at the starting line of this new adventure: "Indeed countless people have already emailed me to say that “NewSDK is here, it’s (choose one) Flex Builder, Google Web Toolkit, Java Web Start, Silverlight, JavaFX, Flash, ActionScript, MORFIK, OpenLaszlo, …"
At Morfik we believe that our success depends on your success. That is why we have created the Morfik Developer Assist programme.

Morfik exceeds all expectations for fantastic, ground-breaking results
Morfik offered a complete solution that dramatically reduced the time to develop the user interface so I could concentrate on the more complicated financial aspects needed for the project,” he explains. “It was very important to the success of the project to get technical assistance quickly and effectively when problems arose, and that there was also room for the final web application to evolve and grow. I was deeply impressed with the lightning fast responses I received from the Morfik support team
